The class debate was very engaging because relevant positive and negative arguments were made regarding the topics presented. I think it's important that teachers discuss with their students appropriate and safe technology use when using technology in the classroom. Educational websites and programs such as Skype and TeacherTube are generally safe for classroom use as long as the teacher plans ahead or checks with other teachers that have used the website or program before without any problems.
Skype can be used to promote global digital citizenship. In order to use Skype safely, teachers need to plan ahead.
TeacherTube is an excellent website that is already filtered and safe for the classroom.
Teachers need to have conversations with students about Internet safety and appropriate use. It is important that teachers continue to talk to students about safety online throughout the school year.
